Government agrees framework for access to work for International Protection Applicants

The Cabinet has agreed to accept the recommendations of the of the Inter-Departmental Taskforce set up to examine the implications of the Supreme Court judgment in N.V.H. v  Minister for Justice and Equality on access to the workforce for International Protection applicants.

The Government has also announced that it has decided to opt into the EU (recast) Reception Conditions Directive (2013/33/EU).

This will allow people living in Direct Provision Centres to work, in line with the European Directive.
