Consultation on National Standards for accommodation offered to people in the protection process

20 Aug 2018

The Department of Justice and Equality have launched a consultation process on draft National Standards for accommodation offered to people in the protection process.

The Standard Advisory Group, which has responsibility for drafting the standards, is inviting comments and feedback regarding improvement of accommodation offered to people in the protection process.

The Department stated that the draft National Standards are based on recommendations from the McMahon Working Group taking into consideration regulatory and legal requirements, human rights and equality laws and standards.

The feedback will inform the development of the final National Standards, which will apply to all service providers contracted by the Reception and Integration Agency (RIA) to operate and manage accommodation centres.

Deadline for feedback is 25 September 2018
