- Political Agreement on the Directive on trafficking in human beings and appointment of new Anti-Trafficking Coordinator, Myria Vassiliadou
- The European Parliament's Plenary Session of 14 December 2010 adopted a number of texts on the Extension of the scope of Directive 2003/109/EC to beneficiaries of international protection, on Agreement between the European Union and Georgia on the facilitation of the issuance of visas, on the creation of an immigration liaison officers network, and on the Agreement between the EU and Georgia on the readmission of persons residing without authorisation
- The European Commission has provided an additional €9.8 million and further technical support to Greece on asylum and border issues
- European Commission Communication COM(2010) 673 on the EU Internal Security Strategy in Action, see, in particular Objectives 2 (radicalisation) and 4 (borders).
- Recent Eurostat report on remittances which indicates that workers' remittances in the EU27 Money sent by migrants to their country of origin fell by 7% in 2009.

- European Commission's sixth report on visa reciprocity with third countries and agreement on visa free regime for Albania and Bosnia and Herzegovina approved by Justice and Home Affairs Council.
- The 2010 European Integration Fund Community Actions call for proposals has now been published. The deadline for submission is 14th January 2011.
- European Commission Communication on the consolidation of EU Africa relations (COM(2010) 634) (see page 6 in particular). Details of the "Observatory" mentioned in the report may be found at http://www.acpmigration-obs.org/.
- European Commission's fifth report on Economic, Social and Territorial Cohesion. The Report contains a lot of information on migration and integration, e.g. remittances, effect of crisis, integration, statistics (flows), (Un)employment, social inclusion.
- An European Court of Justice judgment (asylum) that a person can be excluded from refugee status if he is individually responsible for acts committed by an organisation using terrorist methods.

- European Commission Work Programme 2011; note that the "Communication on an EU agenda for integration of third-country nationals, including the development of a coordination mechanism" is included as a priority initiative in Annex II. The "Communication on addressing labour shortages through migration in the Member States" is now included as one of 3 staff working papers that will accompany the Communication on the evaluation and future development of the Global Approach to Migration.
