Abstract
This study explores the characteristics of circular and repetitive migration patterns and temporary labour migration, looking at third-country nationals moving to the EU for short-term employment, seasonal work and research, as well as at settled migrants, living in the EU, moving temporarily to their countries of origin. The study provides an overview of the different policy preferences, views and conceptualisations in Member States, as well as specific legislation, programmes and measures in place to promote temporary and circular migration.
This Synthesis Report summaries the main findings of the National Reports for the EMN Study on Temporary and Circular Migration: empirical evidence, current policy practice and future options in EU Member States undertaken by EMN National Contact Points from 24 Member States (Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom).
