This report looks at the human consequences of the Irishgovernment’s policy on family reunification – the impact on refugee families andon their ability to integrate into Irish society. It begins with ashort analysis of the current policy context and then focuseson the voices of those affected by the legislation – voicestoo often missing in discussions around refugee familyreunification. The evidence shows that the presence ofrelatives can accelerate integration for both new arrivals andfamily members already in Ireland. In the conclusion, a seriesof recommendations are presented for the government tosupport refugee family reunification.
