Do you speak English? A study on Access to Interpreter Services in Public Social Welfare Offices in Ireland

This report published by Crosscare Information and Advocacy Services presents findings from a survey with non-English speakers that Crosscare works with on their experiences with accessing interpreters in Intreo Offices. 

The report reveals the difficulties experienced by non-English speakers in accessing social welfare supports and outlines evidence that most are unaware of the availability of interpreters. A number of recommendations are made to support the effective implementation of interpreter provision policy in the Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection and across the broader public services that provide language support.
