The Employment Permits Act 2006 sets out an enabling structure for the reformed labour migration policy. The Act provides for the application, granting, renewal, refusal, and revocation of employment permits. It provides that employment permits are granted to the employee and that the permit will state certain rights and entitlements of the worker concerned. The Act prohibits recruitment-related deductions from remuneration and the retention by the employer of the employee’s personal documents.
