Employment Permits (Amendment) Regulations 2021

The Employment Permits (Amendment) Regulations 2021 removed the occupations of social worker, occupational therapist, physiotherapist, speech and language therapist and healthcare assistants from the Ineligible Occupations List (IOL) for employment permits as of 14 June 2021.
The occupation of dietician was added to the Critical Skills Occupation List (CSOL).
The Regulations also set a minimum remuneration threshold of €27,000 for healthcare assistants. When applying for a renewal permit, a healthcare assistant will be required to have achieved a relevant qualification at Level 5 on the Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI) framework after 2 years’ employment in the State.
