This was the first commencement order under the International Protection Act 2015, issued on 11 January 2016.
The primary purpose of this commencement order was to repeal section 7A of the Refugee Act 1996 (as inserted by section 11 of the Immigration Act 1999) which provided for the establishment of the Refugee Advisory Board which was intended to report to the Minister on the operation of the asylum system.
This order also provided that sections 1 and 2 (insofar as it related to the repeal of section 7A of the Refugee Act 1996) would come into force on 11 January 2016.
