The Act introduces a disqualification from certain social welfare payments, other than supplementary welfare allowance, for beneficiaries of temporary protection where the person is resident in a designated accommodation centre.
The Act amends section 60 of the International Protection Act 2015 to clarify the definition of a designated accommodation centre and clarified that beneficiaries are entitled to the same medical care as Irish citizens, and the same social welfare as Irish citizens, except for where they reside in a designated accommodation centre.
The Act also amends section 60 to insert subsection 14(a) granting the Minister powers to designate premises as a designated accommodation centre and this designation must be made public.
