Section 186 of the Criminal Justice Act 2006 amended the definition of “torture” in the Criminal Justice (United Nations Convention Against Torture) Act 2000 by the insertion after “omission” of “done or made, or at the instigation of, or with the consent or acquiescence of a public official”.
