Abstract
The objective of the EMN study was to contribute to the development of appropriate policies on labour migration for the health sector, by presenting an overview of the current situation and needs in the participating Member States (Austria, Belgium, Estonia, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Sweden, the Netherlands and United Kingdom) in a comparative manner. This report identifies that for most Member States their proportion of non-EU nationals is relatively low. As expected differences were identified between Member States in terms of their needs relating to managed migration in the health sector. A key action proposed is the development of a European code of conduct for the ethical recruitment of health workers.
