In 2003, FLAC recommended that the scheme of direct provision should be “abandoned immediately”; however, seven years on the same situation continues. In this report FLAC revisits the scheme of direct provision and dispersal in the context of changes in social welfare legislation, the reduction in the number of asylum seekers and the long periods of time people remain in direct provision accommodation.
