This paper reviews how immigration has evolved in Ireland and how the system impacts those who have made Ireland home. This paper aims to contribute to the future discussion on migration in Ireland and elsewhere. It brings together an analysis of MRCI’s work over 14 years, the lived experience of migrants and their families who have settled in Ireland, and the invaluable insight of stakeholders with responsibility in the field of migration. It focuses on the participation and experiences of migrants in the labour market as a vehicle for integration into Irish society and advances a set of informed recommendations to make migration policy work for all as we move forward on our migration journey.
