The Department of Justice and Equality and Department of Business, Enterprise and Innovation announced that the spouses and partners of Critical Skills Employment Permit (CSEP) holders will now be able to access the Irish labour market without the need to obtain an employment permit.
The new arrangements will make it easier for non-EEA spouses and partners of Critical Skills Employment Permit holders to apply for work in Ireland.
Under the new arrangements the Department of Business, Enterprise and Innovation has removed the requirement for spouses and partners to obtain an employment permit. Eligible spouses and partners of CSEP holders will now be granted permission to reside in Ireland on Stamp 1 conditions by the Irish Naturalisation and Immigration Service, providing direct access to the labour market without the need to obtain an employment permit.
A new preclearance policy for the non-EEA de-facto partners of CSEP holders will be introduced on 1 April 2019 applying to both visa and non-visa required nationals.
