- Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights, Nils Muižnieks calls for shortcomings in the protection of the rights of immigrant children to be addressed in his report on Ireland following his visit in November 2016.
- European Commission’s White Paper on the Future of Europe sets out the main achievements of the European Union and also addresses the challenges that Europe faces, presenting five potential scenarios for how the Union could evolve by 2025, depending on how it chooses to respond.
- European Commission release Communication on renewed EU Action Plan on Return and set of recommendations, provides guidance on how Member States can make return procedures more effective when implementing the EU’s legislation on return.
- European Commission issue fifth report on the progress made in the implementation of the EU-Turkey Statement.

- AIDA 2016 Update: Ireland – the updated Country Report on Ireland tracks developments in the country’s asylum system following substantial reforms introduced in 2016.
- Fundamental Rights Agency (FRA) report Together in the EU – Promoting the participation of migrants and their descendants and infographic examines Member States’ integration policies and action plans for promoting their participation in society, focusing on non-discrimination, education, employment, language learning and political engagement.
- IOM-EU Cooperation on Migration and Mobility: Addressing the Valletta Summit Priorities Together report examines how IOM and the European Union are working together across the five priority domains agreed at the Valletta Summit on Migration in 2015.
- UNHCR paper Desperate Journey looks at refugees and migrants entering and crossing Europe via the Mediterranean and Western Balkans routes.
- Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) publication Dying to Reach Europe: Eritreans in search of safety is based on the first-hand testimonies of refugees who have fled Eritrea.

Statistics and trends
- IOM: 26,589 migrants and refugees entered Europe by sea in 2017 through 26 March, with over 80 percent arriving in Italy and the rest in Spain and Greece. This compares with 163,895 through the first 86 days of 2016.
- EASO: latest asylum trends for February 2017 show EU+ countries recorded 59,036 applications for international protection.
- Frontex: In February 2017, the number of migrants reaching the Italian shores increased to 9,000. The number of migrants arriving on the Greek islands fell slightly to just over 1,000 and there were fewer than 1,000 detections of illegal border-crossings in the Western Balkans.
- Eurostat: 1,204,300 first time asylum seekers applied for international protection in the Member States of the European Union (EU) in 2016.
