The Equal Status Acts make it an offence to discriminate in relation to the provision of goods and services, accommodation or property. The nine grounds of discrimination covered in the Act are the same as those covered by the Employment Equality Act 1998 (See section 188.8.131.52 of this text). Private and public sector goods and services are covered. Incidents which fall under the Equality Acts or the Employment Equality Act 1998 are dealt with by the Equality Authority and the Equality Tribunal.
