Policy analysis and research

EMN Ireland produces research and policy analysis on topics related to international protection and migration as well as comparative analysis on migration trends, legislative, policy developments and policy implementation issues.

• EMN Research Studies offer a comparative analysis of topics of interest to policymakers in relation to migration and asylum. National studies present information at Member State level while synthesis reports provide a European Union overview.
• Annual Policy Reports focus on current migration and asylum-related legislative and political developments in Member States as well as the implementation of European legislation at national level. A synthesis report is also produced which provides an annual overview of developments at EU level.

National networking

National network members are informed about EMN activities and support EMN Ireland by supplying information and contributing, on occasion, to research and policy activities. EMN Ireland has a wide range of members including NGOs, international organisations, researchers, public authorities and government departments.

Information exchange

All European Migration Network NCPs gather, analyse and exchange information on the legal, demographic, economic, social, and political dimensions of migration and asylum at national level.  The principle aim of this information collection activity is to develop a comprehensive online repository for data in the field of migration and asylum.

Glossary

A glossary of asylum and migration terms has been developed by the EMN in order to improve the comparability of information across EU Member States through the use, and common understanding, of identified terms and definitions.

Ad hoc queries

The EMN has an ad hoc request system to gather comparative information on asylum and migration matters of relevance to policy development in Member States.
